I believe my MAF might be bad, but I don't know how to test it. I am getting code 121, so something isn't right there.

I also get code 223, which is the Idle Air Control code. In AllData it says that between pins 1 and 2, it is supposed to ohm out to 10-14ohms. The same is supposed to be true about pins 2 and 3. I have 12ohms between 1 and 2. I have 10.7 ohms between pins 2 and 3. I still get the error. The IAC hums when the key is "on". With the IAC removed, but still electrically connected, with an attempt to start I can see it move. So as far as I can tell, it works... Can vacuum leaks cause it to tell me there is a IAC error?

Any ideas? I bought the car for $300. The compression cold on each cylinder is around ~200psi. I'll crank it and I will get it to fire here and there but it won't start.

All input is appreciated, thank you.

An easy way to test the MAF is to disconnect it, and try starting it.

Make sure the ignition is off with any unplugging or plugging of the MAF though. With it disconnected, the computer will improvise and the engine will usually run better.

You could try cleaning the idle speed motor, but I am betting the MAF is your problem.
