Default '95 960 wagon fuel pump or pumps ?

I have a "95 960 wagon. Won't start. No pressure at the Schraeder valve on the fuel rail. I have heard conflicting stories that the car has only one pump , in the tank, and another story that says one pump in tank and one pump external. If I have an external pump, where might it be located? Also, where is the fuel filter located? Thank you for any help.

OK, so it seems I am now the resident expert on this fuel pump thingy. J/K.

Tore into it this morning. There definitely is a procedure for locating access to the in tank fuel pump. Requires removing the deck panels from the folded down middle seat on the 960 wagon. 3 nuts on the front and 2 hooks on the panel itself. Push the panel rearwards once the bracket nuts are off of the front and the hooks release. Voila. There is a black removable panel ( 4 nuts ). Once removed there it is on the left side rear of the fuel tank. Big and nasty. I stuck my hand on the pump body while a buddy turned the ign off and on. No pump run felt. Took the blunt end of a long screw driver and tapped it with a ball peen hammer on the body of the pump. Eventually the pump turned on. Measured the pressure on the rail. 40 #. Turned ignition off. Restarted and no pump. Repeat procedure and it runs. Turn it off no run. Need a pump. Ordered one from Rock auto. $50.00

I have reached an impasse. The retainer ring is loose and uncoupled. Can't budge the assembly from the tank orifice. Any ideas?
