Default '95 960 windshield wiper on constantly - no off

Driving along the other day and the WWs turned themselves on and now won't shut off. Just one speed no matter what position the control wand is in. I pulled the fuse thinking it might be a relay. Well, after checking for a relay, I don't see one in the system. Anyone have an idea?

I am still looking in the archives of this forum for the electrical schematic so I can trace the circuit. Can't find that schematic either. Anyone know where it is?

Didn't find that one. Now I will look for the one in the cabin passenger side.

This problem is still kicking my butt. Replaced the switch ***'y. Same condition. Will not stop running. All of the features operate correctly,i.e. speed control, etc. Just will not turn off. Never did find a relay. Anyone know where it is and maybe can snap a pic. It is for a 1995 960 Wagon.

Disconnected the ground wire @ the motor / firewall. Wipers off, but only proved that the circuit is full time power and ground enabled in this condition. If I don't find the gremlin, I can always wire a toggle switch in the ground circuit under dash. Next step is to run an alternate ground wire. Probably talking to myself but maybe somewhere down the line someone else will encounter a similar problem. Still not convinced this is not controlled by a relay.

Is there a parking switch in the wiper motor that is not working?

Hmm. Interesting thought, but I believe that would still allow the wiper motor to shut down but not park in the down position. I could be wrong.

The kind of parking switch I am talking about keeps the motor running until it is in the normal stopping position. It would be inside the wiper motor itself.

Depending on how it is made i think there are a couple possible ways it could fail.

It could fail to close, then the wipers would not return to the resting position on their own. You'd have to play with the control switch to make them stop in the right place.

It could fail to to open, then the wipers would not stop trying to return to the resting position... the motor would go round and round and round.
