Default !!!96 960 wagon won't start, fuel pump? detailed!!!

Well, to start, my car wouldn't idle correctly for a few days, then it flat out wouldn't idle at all more than a few seconds, even on startup. It was the IAC valve, I cleaned it and the engine ran smooth. Several guides I read online suggested to let the engine idle for about a half an hour to allow the rpms to return to normal. I did this, and it didn't stall once. it drove fine.
*now comes the fun part*

After driving about 30 miles, my car just stalls... Out of no where, no sputtering, no knocking, I have fuel(according to my gauge of course), the idiot light isn't on, nothing. I try to start the car several times, it doesn't sound like it's getting fuel. It cranks just fine, but I don't hear the injections, and I CAN'T remember if I even heard the fuel pump rev up when I just put the key to "on". Just for the hell of it, I decide to put a gallon of gas into it.

Damn if I don't have a leak in the rear left corner of my gas tank. it looks like the gas ate through some plastic/rubber... Now...just for giggles, I decide "lemme just turn the little bastard to the 1 position, and see if I hear that fuel pump"....nope. I can't hear it. I've read alot of posts, guides ect. I'll be checking that relay and fuse tomorrow.

My question is this...
If I have a gas TANK leak...
*although I think it may be the pipe that the gas flows from the cap to the tank in*
Would that cause my fuel pump to fail? would my fuel system be screwed up in any way except the obvious?(you're leaking fuel)

And WOULD my trying to start my car several times while I was fixing my iac valve have rapidly ruined my fuel pump?

If anyone has ANY advice on what I should check, how to check it, or just would love to throw in their .02, please do so. I promise your words will be valued.

Btw, I don't know a ton about cars, so it would be Über great if a walkthrough or guide or just SOMETHING step by step would be pointed out to me, I've been googling for hours, and if I hear one more of these shady shops around here tell me I need an entire new fuel system, I am going to die.
