Not quite the same issue as the thread below -- the speedometer on my 96 960 wagon quit but the odometer is still working. because i am used to digging into the 850 dash, i am not bashful to do so but curious what might be the issue here. my buddy who is a volvo service writer is scratching his head and a tech is mulling on it. would appreciate ANY ideas before i just start digging in and pulling wires!!!
BTW, is the dashtop removal similar to an 850? lots of reference material on 850s but not much on 960s.

ODO QUIT so i guess that there is a BASIC problem... time to ask for a better understanding of the speedo!

 

The odometer could be driven from another source. Abs sensor maybe? The speedo from the rear axle.

 

i am afraid that i just need to take it to the speedo shop about 30 miles away... time is an issue here but they are pretty good and have been there for upteen years. will call and ask for estimate and let folk know how it goes!
