Well I found a 1996 960 Wagon on CList that needs a tranny and a parts cars (1993 960 with good trans) for only $50 and was wondering which transmissions they have and if they are interchangable?

 

This is just a guess, but in '96 Volvo changed the cams for more torque off the line, but less once you are moving, lowered hp to about 180. They may have tweaked the transmission at that time, but not sure about that, all I know is the trans is really tough, it is on the lexus 400 and some light duty trucks. Use Mobil one for your fluid.

Try a parts search from a bone yard, they may have a cross section to let you know for sure.
