Default AC cuts off when accelerating

'97 960 sedan I recently bought ...AC works fine but when starting off from a stop the AC blower cuts off until I reach cruising speed and let off on the gas pedal....what is the issue here? Can it be repaired and if so what kind of parts are we looking at and how much labor is involved?...Thanks

Most likely it's the one way valve under the hood, in a line from the exhaust manifold to the firewall, usually a black/white job about the diameter of a nickel, cheap to buy and easy to change.

In my car it was one of the diaphragms on the heater box. TEST FIRST before you buy anything. The check valves are very easy to test. Simply pull them off and try to blow through them in both directions

You can do a comprehensive test of the whole system if you know how it works. I explain a lot in this post

Read on from "It is a bit easier to check..."

Cheers

The 760/960 are much worse for Climate Control issues than the 740/940...

I hope it's not one of the bellows, it took me all day long to repair that once I got the part. To replace that you have to go deep into the dash as if you were replacing the heater core.
