Just picked up a nice '96 960 wagon...which is going to replace my ailing '97 850 T5 wagon...what a sweet car...not without some issues but all can be fixed pretty cheaply.
One thing I was wondering is wether or not i could swap out the wheels from my '97 to the '96...The '97 is a 16" wheel and the 96 is a 15" wheel... besides that is the lug bolt pattern the same?...If they do fit how much of an error would it cause to the speedo and odo?
Also wondering if I could swap the front seats from the 850 into the 960?
Well heres the only pic I have of it thus far...from the P.O.

96' 960 has the FWD (850's) lug pattern (5x108) and offset (+ 43 mm), so, yes, they are identical. 96 960 wagon OEM tires are 195/65/15, sedan's 205/55/16. Speedo will be correct with these sizes.
Those wheels are called "Altair" (6x15) if you are curious.
Does you 960 have the nivomats?

These are the wheels I want to swap onto the 960 from the 850...The seats in the 850 are superior to the ones in the 960...gonna have to see what the options are for this...

Self-leveling shocks in the rear. Read -- very-nice, but very expensive (about $ 300 each x 2).Originally Posted by bne

Volvo has a name for each rim style, basically the name of a Greek God. Your rims' style is called "Altair" in Volvo-speak. If you want to sell them, if you say "Altair" people will know.Originally Posted by bne

Here we go with the Greek Gods again -- Persus wheels (6.5x16). What size tires are on those?Originally Posted by bne

Well the Altair's are really boring compared to the Persus rims...which are shod with 205/55/16's...,,,as for the nivomats...dont have a clue...are there ways to know from looking at the shocks?
Ok all previous pics were of t a dirty car and the rims were really filthy in between the hole pattern...These shots are after the Queen got a bath and shine...;-)
