Auxiliary belt tool & routing
So, I found this tool at AutoZone. Its simply a 3/4"-1/2" adapter. It fits perfectly into the square slop on the auxiliary belt tensioner. You will have to remove the radiator fan to fit it, however you can just pull the 2 screws and flip it over the AC lines on the left. At $5.99 for the adapter, its worth it.
Also, I confirmed that the revised belt routing that some of you may have seen on the 850's does indeed work on the 960 (in my case 1995 960) I purchased a 695k6 belt from Duralast and its a prefect fit.
695k6
Effective Length (in): 69.49
Effective Length (mm): 1765.046
Outside Circumference (in): 70.05
You can see in the photos the new looking belt is the OLD routing method
and the older looking belt is actually the NEW routing method
I had been having problems since replacing the belt based. The power steering was causing the belt to squeal, the revised routing fixed that.
