Default Brake Lights Not Working

I have a 97 Volvo 960 Wagon with a lot of miles (although it runs and drives flawlessly). The brake lights have stopped working. The tail lights, back up lights, and rear fog light work fine. When I depress the brake pedal I can hear the normal 'click' of the switch / solenoid that I thinks causes the brake lights to come on. Is this a part that typically fails? Or could it be something else? Would a place like NAPA carry this part?

Thanks!

I will bet the brake light switch is bad.

Default brake lights not working

Change the burn out bulb relay. Very common on 940's

Interesting development. I noticed that if the vehicle is in park and I push the pedal in any way the brake lights work. If in gear, and I push the pedal in and slightly to right the brake lights work. If in gear and I push the pedal straight down the brake lights DO NOT work.
