Okay, here is another question that I forgot to ask.

The bright lights on my '93 960 simply do NOT work.

If I pull for bright lights when the headlights are off, it doesn't flash. When the headlights are on and I pull it just turns off the headlights and fog lights and leaves the corner lamps on.

Do I need new bulbs, and if so, are the brights a seperate bulb from the standard headlights?

Look in the fuse box under the hood for the headlight relay.
There is seperate bulbs for the highbeams.You can also check for power at the bulbs.
