Center Console Removal
I need to get into the center console of my '97 960 to adjust the parking brake tension. How do I begin to remove the console? Do I even need to remove it? I found another old thread that explains how to make the handle adjustment but no info on getting access to it. I also want to try to fix the PRND12 display. It's not indicating the right speed.
I'm not real sure how to do it. Maybe I'll dig into it this weekend for you to see if I can figure it out. It probably starts with pulling the armrest up and taking some screws out there and then some behind the ash trey in the back seat.
Here are some instructions that are on another post: https://volvoforums.com/forum/showpo...22&postcount=6
There are 2 screws on both sides on the front. Another 2 screws under the parking brake panel. Two more screws in the armrest area. And I would check for screws in the rear behind the ash tray.
Also, if you want to try to do it by just removing the panel that is around the parking brake, you can use these instructions that I posted on my site: http://atthetipwebs.com/technologyin...ock_repair.htm
Items 1 through 9.
