I was checking the induction system on my '95 Volvo 960 and discovered that a U-shaped rubber tube that goes from the vicinity of the first (airflow or temperature?) sensor to a plastic tube that disappears to the lower recesses of the engine bay had split and was leaking.

I replaced the tube, and pickup from low revs has improved.

Anyone know what the tube does? Whatever it does, it's worth checking.
