Compressor removal
1997 Volvo 960 WAGON
Okay I hope someone can help. The magnets in the compressor clutch failed so I am replace the whole unit. I have removed 2 bolts on the front and 1 in the back but I can barely get it to move. I couldnt complete remove the bolt in the back but its loose just blocked by some kind of brace that is going to be extremely difficult to remove. Any suggestions. Am I missing a bolt or do I have remove the power steering and alternator to get this B**** out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mark

RE: Compressor removal
I always remove the alt and power steering to make it easier.
The one by the bracket is very hard to get to.Remove the A/C lines and bend the bracket to the side and remove the screw with a very thin wall 14mm socket.I think there is 4 screws total.
Once the compressor is off you can remove that bracket and throw it in the garbage. It reall isn't needed for the car to function.
I think it was just put there to give us a hard time to work on it.
