Vibrating Drivers Side mirror

Vibrating Drivers Side mirror
The driver's side outside power mirror on my 1995 940 jiggles and vibrates while driving, especially at highway speeds. It obviously hampers its usefulness while also being a distraction as you can see the distorted images from the corner of your eye. The power function still works and tilts the mirror in all directions. Is there a way to tighten up the mounting of the mirror to the base that it swivels on? Or is it impossible to get behind the glass, necessitating a complete replacement?

Almost 20 years later, I'd like to resuscitate this thread. My 240 has manual side mirrors. The right one has too much free play. In other words, I can adjust it with the in-the-car lever, but the entire unit, cowling and mirror, has several degrees of free play. I can tighten the screw that's next to the lever, but that doesn't cut down the free play.
The mirror itself seems to be solidly a unit with the outside housing. I can't figure out how to disassemble the aiming lever assembly, or if there's an easier fix.
Thanks in advance!
