I'm new to this type of Volvo. I picked up a '97 960 with 91k on it. Has a gates timing tag under the hood with the belt having been done at 78k. The car is as clean as can be, and runs and drives like new. I ran a vin decoder on it and it is stating that it is a 3.0 car, not a 2.9. I don't know if that is a hiccup in the website or if this is a 3.0. It is an aluminum block, VIN# YV1KS9607V1107380. As I'm new to these I want to make sure I know whats in the car. Any input would be much appreciated.

Also looking for anywhere I can find NOS or used parts. I need the right hand side driver seat rail, a drivers visor, OBDII cover, and plastic cover under the glovebox. Beige interior, really the only thing I have to find is the seat rail as right now the drivers seat won't go forward. The two covers are available online, but would like to find a place where I can source parts.

Also, do these generally idle a little low when cold? This one site at around 600 then bumps up to 800-900. Thanks again for any help. I'm new to these, bought the car to flip it, and am now leaning more towards keeping it for myself as it is immaculate.

 

It's a 2,920cc motor, called B6304... Parts are available, FCP, IPD, everywhere... Or used, junk yards, etc. Google the part you need. I doubt you need a seat rail, what can go wrong with that? If the seat just doesn't move could be a switch, or the cables, or an obstruction... It should idle higher when cold, then settle down to 700-800.

 

There is no 3.0 liter, it is 2.9 as described above.

The idle is likely a dirty throttle body and perhaps someone has fiddled with it and adjusted it wrong. You need to scan for codes rather than guessing.

My experience with the power seat is the cable wears out and doesn't move the seat properly. It is a pretty easy fix.
