Default Front end noise

Hi, today whilst driving i noticed that there is a creaking noise that comes from the drivers side front end. When i got home i was pushing down on that side and i can hear the same noise. Struts and Springs were changed about 30K ago so im thinking its not that... any suggestions?

Oh i did turn the wheel to the left all the way quickly to see if there was anything obvious and i noticed that the rubber boot on what looks like a connecting rod of somekind was off( perhaps water got inand is causing this) it was attached to the strutt and went to a long bar that went under the car....

Maybe the outer tie rod is bad. That sounds like what you are explaining.

Today i took my car to the shop and they threw it up on the hoist and they figure its the sway bar links that are bad.... They want $191per link+ labour. Does this sound right, that seems rather steep for 2 small peices of metal. Also they said that could be the cause of the noise but weren't 100% sure. I looked at them and it just 2 bolts off and pop on the new ones. Is that all there is to doing this, id rather do it myself than spend 450 bucks on a hunch. I checked out a few websites and i can find them in a set for about 50-75bucks from a company called Deutsche Parts. Are these any good?

That's what I'd do, DIY. It's not a hard job. Also check IPDUSA or Groton for pricing. Quality is OK from any of them.
