Default fuel gauge not working

I have a 90 760 turbo. The fuel gauge isnt working and has been that way since I bought it.

I believe the problem is the sending unit. How do you replace it? I opened the fuel pump access in the trunk and see the fuel pump, but does the whole thing have to be replaced?

Thanks

I had a 740 and had to replace the entire thing. Sometimes they don't work when they have a poor wire connection in the trunk.

The problem can also be in the panel, the gauge itself. What makes you think it's the sending unit? The sending unit in the tank is together with the fuel pump but it can be separated, and replaced by itself--you may have to do so rewiring but there is no point replacing the fuel pump if it's not bad.
