Default fuel gauge problem

93'-960 fuel gauge stop working an dropped the the empty sign,I have a factory wiring diagram that shows the fuel level wires coming straight
from the sensor to the back of the gauge ,but I know for a fact that the wires go the something else in the car then to the dash gauge but I have yet to find this secondary drop off point in the car, could there be a relay or something some where else?

I think fuel guages work off of low resistance or something. Most fuel guage problems are effected by the fuel sending unit inside the gas tank, at least it was in my '87 740 GLE. If I were you, I would remove the carpet/lining from the trunk area and check the wires that go into the tank, if you can see them from there. I could in my 740. Unplug the connector and plug it back in and see if that helps. If not, you may need to replace the sending unit inside the tank. I don't think the 960's went to anything more sophisticated.
