Anyone know how to deactivate the factory alarm on a 1997 960? My keyless entry remotes stopped working over a year ago. The nearest Volvo dealer is over an hour away and it hasn't been enough of an inconvenience for me to take a day off work to get these reprogrammed.

Earlier this week I was sitting at a stop sign and my car went dead. I have someone local who works on it and always tells me if it is something I should have repaired at the dealership. I had a lot of corrision on the battery cables and he cleaned that hoping that was what caused my problem. It has been running great for 2 days. Today I got in and tried to start it and nothing happened - no lights came on - nothing. So I tried again, when I did the alarm went off and we can't seem to get it to deactivate. We disconnected the battery and reconnected it and as soon as I try and start the engine or open the door the alarm goes off. Have any of you ever had this problem or know of something we could try.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

When you open the door are you locking it then unlocking it again?The 2 things might not be exactly connected but one causing the other.Try locking the door then unlocking and see if the alarm still goes off then let me know.
