i dont have a scanner, nor do i have the money to get one.

Stop by AutoZone or somewhere. They usually check it for free or loan you the tool to do it yourself.

Do what rspi is telling you.

You talk about cleaning, good. But you haven't said yet if you checked coils.

a)- deteriorated connectors/wires backing out and

b)-underside of coils and boots for cracks.

How is your vision? If no good, get a magnifying glass. It takes a 10mm socket to unbolt out.

THANK YOU...and im sorry, im just getting frustrated, i have always been able to sort out my automotive issues...this is frustrating, and with Dodge, i can do ODB scans with key turns....so...this is a bit new to me...i will go by the auto parts store to see if they can scan it for me....if not i suppose ill be making one...lol

Fault lies elsewhere IMO. Did they erase these codes? If yes, have they come back? If no, erase them and see what comes back.

believe it or not, i just replaced the cam sensor in my mothers car, similar symptoms...so on the way to work i was thinking that was a possibility...

we did erase them, but i havent gone back yet,....but the CEL came right back on after only a moment...

on the cam code, it said.."camshaft position circuit bank 1 or single sensor"...

partially malfunctioning?

is it just me, or is EVERY SINGLE pigtail for the cam sensor on almost EVERY Volvo rotted?

not only does this just suck, the ****ing bottom T40 bolt is now successfully stripped...

this is becoming the biggest pain in the ***.

got an idea....i have no room to work...there is no way to get to it...im stuck...knuckles busted and pissed off...something as stupid as a cam sensor couldnt be more awkward to get to.....with the motor in....ugh

I had a cam sensor in a Jeep I had go bad and I couldn't see it let alone change it. Can't help you on that one.
You need a really good T-40 to get those bolts out of these cars. I have stripped 3 or 4 T-40 bolts on Volvo's until I got a good quality tool. I actually put a warning in my t-belt instructions about it and posted pictures of the differences.
If the cel came right back on it is likely the same one for the cam sensor.

yeah...im porked...

another thing i just found....i changed out the tps, runs the same.....pulled the injector plugs one at a time....when it started idling rough....guess what, the #3 cylinder ,guessing it goes front to back, had no change.....its dead....dont know why, pulled the cover, and took off and cleaned the coil, again....still runs the same....bad coil?....gonna pull the plug and see what it looks like...im so over this crap....

o also, its not all the time.....sometimes it runs, idles wonderful..........and other times.....its terribly rough...

swapped coils, same issue...idles rough to smooth on and off....plug is fine as well......i did however find a short in the crank position sensor wiring....this is never ending......!!!!

Do a compression test before you do anything else.
