I have a 92 960 with and automatic transmission that I hate. Never shifts right and always shifts to soon and the motor is lugging.
I am thinking of putting a manual transmission in this car. First off,, have any of you done this? and secondly, what transmission should I be looking for.{manual}

You'd be better off rebuilding your own automatic transmission with basic hand tools than trying to do this conversion. Seriously. For the cot of a used trans, driveshaft, new clutch, pedal assembly, linkage, shifter, console modification, wiring, ecm and all the associated nuts and bolts, you'll be dollars and months ahead by just getting the existing trans diagnosed and fixed.

If you just don't like automatic transmissions, sell the car and get one that has a stick.

 

OK Jim, I hear you. I was hoping it would have easy to do. But put like you stated, I agree, I will get the tranny fixed.
But it sure would be an awesome car with a 5speed.
