Default Grand-daughters "94" 960 has a problem.

It seems to intermittently have a problem where it will not rev. It is VERY intermittent. The symptoms are just not having the ability to reach anything above an idle. She waits 10-15-20 minutes and it will be fine for several weeks. I was going to change the a relay but the local Napa store said the relay will either work or it will not. If the relay were bad it just would not start. He suggested checking the fuel pump, don't know if it has the inline or in tank.....the strainer, filter, or maybe a bad connection or ground....Just need some suggestions.
She will be moving to Idaho in June. We do not want to have her take it there so she will try to sell it here in Northern California.
Just looking for ideas.....

Throttle could be getting stuck, have you checked to see if it's fouled to the point where it might stick? I would just check by pulling the cable under the hood to see if it's smooth while the car is off.

A place to start, at least /shrug

How many miles are on it? If it is around 130,000, it could be the main fuel pump is failing. If the main pump fails, the in tank pre pump can keep the car idling, and if one is really, really good with the foot, drive on the tollway from Madison to Chicago. It was not me but my son on a visit from school.

DanR '94 964 356,000 miles (122,000 on the new engine)
