need help with transmission issues

So here's the problem
I have a 94 960 with 90k on it.
Sometimes when i am in reverse it stops moving as if it is neutral. If I wait or put it in park and then back to reverseit will start moving again.
Also if I have to brake hard it will feel as if it got put in park (wont move), but if i give it a few seconds it will go back into gear and keep moving
Sometimes when I am driving it will shift when it shouldnt and then will correct itself (this has never caused the Rpms to get too high or low) you can just fell it shifting back and forth a little.
I took it to a mechanic who said i probably need a new transmission so I should just buy a new car. He retrieved the follwoing codes 114, 124, 212, 221, all of which seem to be more of an electrical issue than the actual transmission.
Deffinately not worth putting a new transmission in, but if it was just the PNP, then that would be different.
Any thoughts about twhat the real problem is??? any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have your mechanic check the rubber bushing in the shift linkage under the car. Sometimes that can crack and fall out and cause slop in the linkage which could be your symptoms. Plus you may be due for a PNP switch too.
What does the color of your trans fluid like? Brownish red/Bright red?
Does it have a burnt odor?
The codes he got are also a possible indication the PNP switch is not right. Also the plug connector for the PNP is prone to corrosion.
If it is your trans, used ones can be had for about $300 plus labor.
