Recently acquired a 1995 Volvo 960 from my aunt. It only has 64k on it but it needs some work/troubleshooting.

Just to start, when locking the doors remotely, are the hazards supposed to flash? Almost all cars do nowadays and the 960 doesn't. I just didn't know if these did when they were made.

Mine does. You should read the Owner's Manual for your particular year. If you don't have it, you can read it online at Volvo USA.

No, that is not a now-a-days car, it's 18 years old. I also had a '95 and Volvo didn't start that until '98.

I beg to differ with regards to the year the 960 VOLVO started the emerg flasher when locking car with remote...because my 96 volvo 960 does. The amber blinkers on ...both left and right in the front..and my tail lights flash once when i lock with remote or even with th key.

This flashing also lets me know my alarm is set..so maybe the flash only works with models equipped with one of the two alarms systems offered by volvo for the 960....just a thought!!

 

All 960's have alarms. My '95 did not do it and I didn't think my '97 960 did. Maybe it did and I just didn't remember unless the feature can be turned off.

 

I have a 1996 960 that I lock with my key. Can I presume the remote locking feature was an option when the car was new and is it difficult/expensive to add this feature now?
I also added a pair of the side marker lights in place of the Volvo fender badges and have them hooked up as running lights in addition to the turning lights.

 

All 960's in the US had them. You just need to get a remote and program it.
