New to Volvo, '87 760 Turbo needs help with minor cold start running issue
First, HELLO VOLVO WORLD. I bought my first Volvo, a 1987 760 a few months ago, and have been very busy with repairing some issues with it, such as replacing rear shocks with correct Nivomats (actually bought ones for the wagon, and love the way it rides now), front strut rod bushings, cooling hoses, etc. The main issue I'm still having is when I first start the car for the day (the engine's cold from sitting), it starts fine, idles perfectly fine, but when I take off it seems to stumble and hesitate at the point where the turbo spools and starts boosting...it does this for about a half mile or so until the engine warms, then seems to run perfectly fine for the rest of the day. I've replaced the fuel injector seals thinking that might've been a source of unmetered leaking into the intake that closed up when warm, but it doesn't seem to have helped. I've cleaned the air mass meter and throttle body, to no avail. I've even tested the resistance on terminals 2 and 3, as well as 2 and 6 on the Air Mass Meter, but keep getting such inconsistent readings on it I don't know what to make of it. If anyone has any suggestions of how to test the air mass meter or anything else that could be causing this problem, I would greatly appreciate any help. I've also noticed that when filling up (gas), most of the time either the pump doesn't shut off before overflow and lots of vapor is being pushed back out the filler neck, or on my last trip to the pump, the pump kept shutting off ever 2 seconds unless I held the handle at a really low rate...what's this problem?
