New Volvo 960 Owner
HI all decided to move from Puerto Rico to Orlando, FL. Sold my S60 and decided to buy a 1997 960 with 114,000 one owner for $2,000 for my I think It was a great deal considering the car is in perfect condition from the seats not a scratch and the paint its immaculate and it feels great on the road. The CEL light went on with this code P0412 secondary air injection pump something. When I open the oil dipstick there's kinda of smoke coming from there; im thinking its a clogged pcv or oil trap, I've clean a pcv of my old 850 and it wasn't and easy job is it easy on this car?. And the shifter its broken it doesn't have the black thing covering it so I have to use a screwdriver to pres the button to put it in gear, any thoughts where i can find one, i have called several junkyards no luck and there's none on eBay.

Sounds like a great deal.
I don't think these cars have the smoking dipstick test that the 850's have. They do not have the PCV system those cars have so you can maybe make sure the cold start pump system is working properly. I have read somewhere that people say some air valve gets stuck or something like that. I've never gotten any good answers to that breather system question. Last time mine popped that code I found a torn vacuum elbow and replaced it. Six months later the code returned (about a week ago), I reset it and it hasn't come back yet.
As for the shifter, I can get one for $25 (guessing) . Shipping would likely run about $8. It will cost me 2 hours and $10 in gas to go get it. So pm me if you want me to go get it for you.
