Default overflowing gas

I had another question for you guys that I was hoping I could get some insight on. I cannot seem to put gas in my volvo 740 gl non turbo, without it overflowing back out, or the pump stops it. I have to fill it up very slowly and let it "seep in" it seems. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar.

Sounds like you have a clogged vent tube...

That is very helpful thank you. My only fear is that theres a rat or wasp nest blocking that vent line and i push it into the gas tank or something.

Well I don't know why exactly this would have worked, but I ended up needing to replace the clogged oil seperator and flame trap and now I can put gas into it fine.. My charcoal box hoses have been disconnected as well don't know if this would at all be part of the problem. Is it possible when I fixed those components it relieved pressure in the system to not push the fuel back out?
