Default P0172 System Too Rich, bank 1

1996 Volvo 960. 119,500 original miles.

This code keeps coming on my OBD II display. I realize that it maybe due to Oxygen sensor. But which one?. These suckers are pretty expensive, and I hate to pay $200 for a unit which will not solve the problem for sure.

I will note that, the car run smoothly, and no hick ups during idle running. Its start with no problem. I don't hear the hissing noise due to possible vacuum leak.

Can anyone please help me pinpoint which one of the sensors is "bank 1". Also, is that possible to unscrew the Sensors and simply clean them, and re-install, or only a new one will work?.

thanks

You only have 1 bank. Check you might only have one sensor as well.
Cleaning might or might not help you will have to try.

Look in the exhaust before and after the Cat converter.
