Popping when I turn at rest
Moving right along on my 960 project, I have fixed the cruise control. The actuator was broken. A/C now blows cold enough to hang meat in the car, a welcome relief in the summer. New brakes all around although I really need to replace the front rotor assemblies. I still have a little noise and loping during stops.
Cutting to the chase, I have a popping sound on the passenger side front when I turn the wheel either direction. I have a new rack and pinion and replaced the outer ball joints when I put the rack on. anyone have front end experience that can identify what could cause the popping? I suspect it is a worn bushing somewhere, but I really cannot tell by looking at them.

I had the same problem before with the cruise control lever.. I notice that at low speeds, when the wheel is turned all the way to the right, there is a popping sound that comes from the left front wheel area. It is not a continuous popping, but, rather, sounds like it coincides with the revolutions of the tire. It happens both backing up and going forward. Here are some suggestions you cant try. 1. Jack up the car and shake the tire and find what is loose. 2. Check the shaft 3. Also check the ball joints.
