Question Remote CD Changer problem - 960

My Remote cd changer on my 960 just quit working. the audio unit is an SC-811 with a radio, tape player and remote CD. when I push the CD button I get a message "E-01" does that mean anything?

just wondering if there is something I can check before i take it in for repairs.

thanks. J

I had a simular problem with mine. That usually means that the cd is not loading properly in the changer. There are problaby teeth missing from the gear in there that changes and loads the cd's.

You can eject the chamber and sometimes the gears will turn to a spot that has all it's teeth. When that does not work, you can bang on the son of a gun real hard on the bottom of it while the cd's are trying to load (this worked several times for me).

You can purchase another cd changer or a used one from somewhere like eBay. But the best thing to do is ABANDON CD's all together. Get your audio on some sort of MP3 player and use one of the tape adapters or get one of the MP3 adapters that connect to the back of your stereo (they can deliver digital audio).
