Default S90/960 front suspension

I have a 97 S90 110k miles. The front end seems loose and makes rattle noise drivers side. The shop says it needs new struts, ball joints, control arm etc....$$$. The estimate was $2200. Tough to put that into a car worth maybe $3800. I think I'll try to do some work myself. Any suggestions on what to start replacing first.? thanks

Take it to another shop and get another opinion. The rattle noise could be just a link pin, but if the car feels loose, then there is probably more. Start with the ball joint and control arm bushings first. Save the struts for last unless it's real bouncy or they leak.

Okay after about five min. my wife andI narrowed down the source of the noise to a leaking strut. Is this a do it yourself repair or a pullout the check book job?

Changed the shocks on my F150. Not too bad. Although I didn't have to compress any coil springs. How much shouldI expect to pay for a strut change. I fiigure parts to be around $200 per side up front.
Thanks for the Input
