Default Service Engine Light

I have a 95 Volvo 960. At around 100,000 miles the service engine light began to come on at start up. Light stays on solid for 15 - 30 seconds and then goes off. Never comes on again until I turn off car and restart. I feel this has somthing with the car passing the 100,000 mile mark. Called the dealership and they can't seem to tell me over the phone how to turn this thing off...guess they want a shot at a 100.000 mile tune up and big money with a mechanic's bill....anyway, car runs fine and all is well.

Can anyone tell me how to turn this light off or at lest tell me if there is a way to determine if I have a problem or not???

Default RE: Service Engine Light

You should not have any problems at all.The light will come on for a second on start up while the speedo cluster does the self test. When the service light is on to remind you of the service it will light up for about 5min after start up then go off. There is a rubber plug in your speedo cluster between the speedo and the tach.If you remove it and push the black button in the hole that will reset the service light.
