Default Transmission Fluid Check

All,

I have a 97 Volvo 960 wagon with a bunch of miles. I've decided to start doing all my own maintenance which seems to be unbelievably easy on this car (compared to my Porsche and Audi). One issue - how do you check the level of the transmission fluid? My other cars have dipsticks. The manual says nothing about how to check the transmission fluid beyond the statement that it needs to be done. Is there a dipstick somewhere? Or is there an inspection port?

Thanks.

The dipstick is on the left side of the car(drivers side) it is down pretty far.
It is yellow on color. Either you need really skinny arms or a long 1/2 inch drive extension to get it out.

I thought my radiator was leaking so I removed it. It has 2 lines going to the transmission so I guess it also serves as a transmission cooler.

When I pulled the radiator, I lost about 8 ozs of fluid (that is about what I caught in a bucket I put under it). So I was looking to make sure it had enough transmission fluid in it before I started driving the car and forgot about it. When I searched the threads I found this link, it seemed to be very helpful and imformative.
