Volvo 1996 960 Hood Won't Stay Up

Suddenly my hood will not stay up. When I lift it up it just falls down. This has never been a problem before.

I would greatly appreciate any ideas or insight as to what the problem could be.

Probably the gas springs (they look like shocks) went flat.

Volvo # 3526163, Stabilus # 6512AJ, or Sachs #SG315006

Others are on the aftermarket, some may not last long.

You can also move the red latches on the supports and open the hood 90 degrees.
