just bought a bunch of sensors for this 850, I'm down to the #1 shift solenoid, looked at alot of pdf files and its tellin me thats its inside the tranny... is there an easy way to do this job?

 

Well ...... you know what I'm going to say.

The easy way is to have someone else do it. It's behind the side cover and it has to come off to get to the solenoid to replace it.
If you do need the shift solenoid, Volvo actually calls them S1 and S2 rather than Solenoid A and Solenoid B, the part number should be 6843783. Both shift solenoids are identical but the torque converter lockup solenoid is different.
