i just bought this candy red 1993 volvo 850. i have owed only 3 cars all that were volvos. two were 92 940 that i had minimal problems with. this car however is making me want to pull my hair out. i got the car and it drove nice but a little over heating problem. after i had it for a couple days i sent it to my machanic to replace seals and timing belt. ever since that this flashing arrow comes up and the car is acting funny. today however the flashing arrow kept changing from a flashing to a solid and my car kinda choked and died out. this flashing arrow and or solid arrow is combined with the economy/sport.winter buttons are all blinking. all yesterday morning the flashing arrow was on and towards the afternoon it went off and drove fine. this car is driving me nuts. it works fine than it falls apart. i need help trying to fiqure out what it is.... PLEASE HELP ME!

 

I had that problem yesterday. It is just a glitch, nothing big. Do this -

Select Economy & Summer (mine wouldn't let me "visibly" switch to summer while like this, but press it and try)
Turn off the car
Turn to ignition "on" but don't start the car
Move the gear shifter from Park to Low about 15-20 times
Turn off the car
Start the car
Repeat if it doesn't work the first time (it worked first try for me)

Also, the green light for the "E" on the "Economy/Sport" switch was blinking, but that has reset too.

okay thanks i will try that. i was driving the car with the flashing arrow and all of a sudden it stops and its in the economy setting. it drove normally so i switched into sport to see if it would go back but didnt. i mean it happens and then it fixes itself and than does it again. WHY????
