Default 95' 850 T5 Wagon Acting Up!

Hi guys,

Some of the experts might be able to shed some light here. The ride is a 1995 T5 Wagon. A day after a battery replacement, the Volvo's rpm started acting funny. The engine idles okay in traffic, but starts dropping rpm to about 2500-3000 rpm upon acceleration. Almost to the point of stalling

Initially, I thought it was a tune up issue. So I had that done, but no luck. Next we had the Idle Control Valve cleaned. After the sparks were replaced, and Idle Control Valve was cleaned, she ran okay, at least for a kilometer. A few minutes after re starting the car, she acted up again with the same symptoms.

I'm second guessing the following: Fuel Pump Relay, Fuel Filter, Cam Shaft Sensor, O2 Sensor

Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Have you looked at the MAF sensor? If you disconnect it and the car idles better, it is probably dirty or bad.

What did you gap the plugs to? Should be .28 (or .028, whichever one) IIRC.

I forgot to mention that we live in Manila, Philippines, so the MAF is either clean or filthy All kidding aside, we've discounted the MAF since I've replaced it just about a month ago as part of preventive maintenance. All turbo hoses are in great shape and air flow seems to be working fine. Disconnecting the MAF sensor doesn't do anything except trip the CEL.

Sparks and HTW's are brand new, Idle Control Valve and Distributor have been cleaned, then replaced.

The mechanic will be coming in within the week with a fuel pressure gauge to check the pressure. While we're at it, I'll ask him to check the Throttle Position Sensor, O2 Sensor, Fuel Filter, Fuel Pump Relay (this one right here is my culprit since I haven't even touched that since I got the car).

Here's keeping my fingers crossed. Gotta get her running, the wife is already breathing down my neck.
