My Volvo started fine yesterday then today when I went out to start it made a click then after that nothing since but the lights on the dash. Is there a starter relay or anything in the transmission that reads the position before starting?

 

check your crank postion sensor - mine went out on my 940 and when i put new one in it fired right up

 

Would your 940 turn over because my 850 won't turn over at all?

 

nocrank / no start but you have juice -- me thinks as was my problem with my 850 plat- your starter is shot - go to junk yard- a "you-pick" preferrably-- and pull one off a--V70 OR S 70-- i did that and i only paid 20 $ for it and it looked brand new-- the serial number is--8111302-- IT WILL WORK - DEAD ON MATCH FOR 850 N/A AND TURBO

 

It is showing 12 volts with the key off so me thinks yer right.

 

Found an almost new looking starter on a 98 S70 that did the trick. Thanks so much for the response.
