1994 Volvo 850 Sedan
Hello,
Do you think it is acceptable to buy a 1994 Volvo non-tubo 850 Sedan with 177,000 miles. IT needs nothing and is really reliable. How many more miles can be expected out of a car like this one?
-thanks

With meticulous care they are noted to go over 200,000 or even 300,000 miles.
Make sure that the timing belt has been replaced at every 70,000 miles or 5 years.
Test drive it & take it to your mechanic for pre-purchase inspection before paying for it.
Lastly, if you can find a turboed 850, you would be much happier.
I hope this gives you some hints. Best of luck to you,
JPN

If you are looking for a good car that is reliable and don't really care much about responsiveness then the non-turbo is a fine car. But, for instance, my daughter was looking at 95 Volvo's and had driven all of mine (all Turbo's) and when she drove a non-turbo, she said there is no way she would want it even though it was nicer looking and in better shape than the one she ended up getting.
My advice is to drive a turbo and a non-turbo and get a feel for the cars. Like I said not everybody needs a car that is fast and fun to drive. The actual ride and feel of the cars is the same, but it's when you push on the accelerator where you feel the difference.
