Default 1995 850 Cigarette lighter assembly Diagram

I had to put together the lighter assembly together the other day and the battery was drained the next morning. Does anyone have a diagram showing the right way to put the lighter assembly together. Its not that hard but not sure why the battery drained. The nut had worked itself loose and I just put a steel nut on it. Does it have to be brass like the threads? Any help would be appreciated.

First you should test the outlet to see if it has power with the key out. Maybe it's not the problem.

If the lighter is working you have it wired up right, if you wire it up in reverse, it blows the fuse. Check which one of your fuses has a drain on it.

The lighter worked after I put it together but I also put in a 15 amp fuse because it was all I had. I did not try to see if it worked with the key off. Is the fuse the issue. The battery never drained before I put the lighter back together. I thought the assembly was pretty straight forward but you never know. Wide copper piece into black plastice piece, thin copper piece next and a little clip then the nut. ANy thoughts

The different rated fuse wont be causing your battery to drain, there will be something else. Turn your ignition all the way off and push the lighter in, if it doesnt work, it isnt that circuit.

The lighter can't drain your battery unless you have the element pushed down and "on". If it was on long enough to drain your battery it should have melted itself through your console.

If it was shorted from you putting it in wrong it should just blow the fuse. Any chance it's something else not related to the lighter ??

Has the vehicle gone dead more than once? Any chance it was dead from having the door open (courtesy lights on) while you were working on the lighter ??

nope we are having an issue with the ABS hydraulic motor staying on and we just pull the fuse. As soon as I put the lighter asembly back together, the battery was drained the next morning. I am not sure what to think.

What have you done since then? Have you had the battery tested? Charged? Has it drained again? How old is the battery? How many miles per week do you drive?

The lighter cannot be the cause. Cig lighters in our cars are switched meaning no power to them when the key is off. Look somewhere else.

May I suggest:
