I have a 1995 850 turbo that will only drive in reverse. Gave no indication of transmission problems until it wouldn't go into gear. When put into D it feels like its in Neutral. Added transmission fluid because it looked low..overfilled to try to see if torque converter was low or clutch pack was dry.. Trying to avoid replacing the transmission. Seems like I am missing something. I'm a pretty new Volvo owner but am pretty experienced with other vehicles.

 

How long have you had the car? There is a chance that 1st has gone out or something. You can try putting the car in Winter Mode and see if it will bypass 1st and 2nd and work that way. Mine does not like 1st but it was neglected for years.
