Exclamation 1995 850glt wagon probable fuel issues?

So I somehow managed to break Sköva my 5 speed wagon. I took a 20 min ride followed by 30 min of idling this afternoon then drive for five mins (noticed fuel level was low but no light it read about three gallons) the car randomly died in fourth at a quarter throttle. It wasn't acting up or being sluggish right before granted I want giving her much throttle I never come close to WOT. Wasnt showing any lights other then abs either. I clutched neutral and coasted to a nice lucky spot all lights remained on subs and speakers continued to play. Tried crancking it turned over sounded fine no reckless noises or anything, just doesn't sound like it has any fuel in it at all. I automatically assumed it was a faulty fuel gauge and that I was out of gas... buddy rescue system blah blah blah gas in the car and it still wasn't starting however it was catching and firing up for a half a second like under 100 revolutions total. One little vroom and then nothing. Anyone have any insight? I'm going through the entire fuel system tomorrow and my scanner and haynes book should be here Friday. I'm not very experienced but I like to pretend Im mechanically inclined and I actually do have access to almost a full shop minus lift at my house so if anyone has any awsome/awful insight or tips on the adventure I'm about to embark on that would be awesome. Thanks oh yeah ran almost a whole thing of stp with a nearly full tank of 89 octane last fillup so im kinda sketched out thinking the stp was supposed to clean my fuel system.. is it possible for stp to clog something up?

Question

hey thanks for your time, and sorry for the late reply. i found out it was the fuse for the fuel pump. (stupid me i didnt check that last night) now it will blow the fuse every once in a while it happened twice today.. its not throwing a code/check engine light. ive checked fuel filter and vacuum lines. i can swap the fuse and fire it up and go. tomorrow im pulling pump and ill clean it up look at the electrical connections and see if anything is clogged. ill also check the fuel pump regulator, any ideas on what may be happening? i think maybe a port in the regulator is clogged and the pressure is making the system blow the fuse instead of the pump or lines?

My guess would be that the pump is shorting out and blowing the fuse.

Fuel pump fuse kept going. Today it decided to melt and not blow and fried the pump. Im hoping I didnt cook anything else it was basically on fire when the pump quit. Im getting a pump from the scrapyard tomorrow for 60$ hopefully she will start right up

The wires for the pump fused themselves together for as far as I can see without pulling anything else apart. [IMG][/IMG] help!! Haha this is turning out to be quite intense.

Good way to learn what happens when you overload a fused circuit. You're lucky you didn't start a fire..

Now you've got wire harness work to do, in addition to a new pump... tough lesson.

I feel extremely lucky there was no fire. Tomorrow im going to see if I can get the wires out entirely all the way up to what im guessing is the ignition? I seriously need my haynes manual to come in the mail. Has anyone seen any threads where someone has experienced an issue like this?

Traced the wires a few inches in and they where fine so I spliced in some new connectors abd she was good too go.
