I'm currently looking at buying a 1995 t5-r I use to own a 96 850r.
Now my concern is that the guy says its a 1995 850 t5-r and he has posted a pic of the tailgate it's says its a t5-r with the little racing logo to the left but the wagon is red, I didn't think North America/Canada got 95 t5-r's in red. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also is this a pre egr engine?
Will it have the very stiff suspension like my brothers 95 glt that rides so stiff it shook the dash off the firewall?

Have him give you the VIN, it will tell you what emissions package the car came with.

As for it being a true T-5R, I'd get the VIN and call the dealer.

The T-5R was only available in 3 colors world wide....

Black (1815 to the us market)
Rare Yellow (185 to the us market)
and the super rare emerald metallic green (3 to the us market)


The R was available in red but that was a R not a T-5R

 

The black 95 T-5R I owned had an EGR if that helps.

 

I'm pretty sure all of the '95's have EGR, unless someone did an EGR delete.

All because someone says it's a T-5R doesn't mean it is one. I once drove 250 miles to look at a so called T-5R only to find out that it wasn't one at all, it was a T5 with mods, that by the way, was beat to hell. The funniest test drive I have ever made. The not so funny part was the 250 mile drive. I should have billed the bastards. Then taken them to court if they didn't pay.

Other than that, the VIN will tell if it's a T-5R. The 6th and 7th digits will be 58, not 57. You can de-code the vin on the Volvo site for an error free result. You can also plug the vin in the AutoCheck site to know what model the car is.

Oh, I do know of people that have painted yellow cars different colors. One I know of was painted silver. The seats will tell as well as the vin.
