I am new to this area and wondering what thread I should be looking on to solve an issue with my 3rd break light (back window). Anyone know where to go to get help! I have changed the bulb several times, checked the fuses, and all other brake lights work. It seems I have a electrical short somewhere. The last mechanic connected a piece in that area but it last for about 2 months. What is the harness called and where can I order or fix it by splicing and reconnect. There are 4 black wires connecting to the light. How do I get to the housing area underneath? Any suggestions?

 

Welcome to VF. More then likely the short is in the wire harness that runs from the car to the tail gate. This harness wears out because of it opening and closing.

 

Took everything off the 3rd brake light to surface. Where do I go from here? Thank you for your reply.
