Default 1995 Volvo 850 Starting Problems

I have a 95 850 GLT non-turbo. It will turn over, however won't give me a spark. I replaced the plugs, cap and router, and now the ignition coil. Still no spark to engine.
Any ideas?

It Might Be the Cam Position Sensor

I just went through this with my 94 850 NA. It was the Crank shaft Position sensor. My Tach was acting funny a few days before. It stalled while I was waiting in a parking lot and that was it. No spark at all. Volvo mech said Crank sensor (aka engine speed sensor). On ebay $45. That was it! It's on top of bell housing directly below the dist cap. But, if your Tach is fine and not acting erratically it could also be the cam sensor. I never got a code or cel.

Lots of good info here. Check out Engine Electrical Component locations.... Page 22.

I also learned that a Cam sensor problem can be, and is usually intermittent, but the crank sensor going bad is FINAL. No signal, no spark!

Make sure to check your wire connections. I had some wires that were coming from the battery to the engine completely exposed. That was my problem the entire time. Didn't even need to replace all those other parts.

Wow, that's a shame, still not running! Don't remember if anybody mentioned the ignition switch yet. It too is a major failing point on these cars. Many, many people have had issues with the switch including me and it can also cause a no start condition. I didn't do that job myself so I can't say how difficult it is but I don't think it's outrageously difficult.

Also, with the key on and during cranking...is there voltage to the coil? (red wire)

I have an ignition switch I pulled from the junkyard (from a running/in an accident car) but I have not put it in yet. Is there any way to tell if the ignition switch is bad?
