1996 Volvo 850 GLT
I have an obdII and a bluepoint code reader listed a PO102 MAF code. This thing will start and run very low rpm unless you turn it back off then hold accelerator to the floor then start it back up, it will run like a raped ape for about 3 seconds then stall and stumble like crazy. I have snapon scan tools but none that have 1996 Volvo pid data or even the diagnostics software. so what now?

could be the MAF but sometimes air leaks can throw off the MAF too. A few suggestions: 1) look for possible vacuum line leaks/cracks and intake leaks. 2) pull the MAF out and if it looks greasy or dirty, clean with CRC MAF cleaner or similar (not "carb/choke cleaner). 3) if that doesn't help you can start probing the connector to test voltages etc (sorry don't have the specs handy - volvotips.com may help...). 4) check fuel pressure? Finally if you decide to replace the MAF, stay away from budget replacements. Not all Volvo's are happy with after market MAFs.
