240 Wheels on an 850 Turbo?
Hi,
Not really a 'car guy', so go easy on me. Checked around the web and couldn't really find an answer to this question, stumbled in here, and it seems like a good place to ask.
I have a '95 850 Turbo with the stock 16" five spoke wheels on it. A neighbor has some studded snow tires mounted on 14" rims laying around his garage from when he owned an '86 240, and he said I can have them for free if they'll fit. I'd love to pick up some free snow tires (especially since I'm broke and moving to a snowy locale in a month). Would they fit on my 850? From what I can tell, the bolt pattern is the same for the two cars (5x108), but going from a 16" wheel to a 14" wheel may pose some problems (clearance, performance, etc.)?
Any ideas, suggestions, comments, etc. are appreciated.
(For the detail obsessed: The snow tires are size 185/70/14, the tires I have on the car now are size 205/55/16)

You're too hard on yourself. If you're thinking about new wheels, you are a "car guy". Anyway, I've never seen wheels any smaller than 15 inch on an 850. The 14 inch will very likely rub on the brake caliper or front ball joint. Also my 850 handles Michigan winters quite well.
