Default 4 speed blower switch - 850 Wagon

The 4 speed blower switch on my 95 850 wagon only works in the 4th position. It the switch shot, or is there a relay I should look for? All help would be appreciated.
Thanks

On the climate box behind the glovebox insert is a blower resistor That controls fan speed 1-2-3. Fan speed 4 is direct voltage.

Every since I bought my '93 850, the 4th speed on the fan hasn't worked, but 1-3 worked fine...

recently 1-3 just quit on me... So, I've pulled the resistor and I'll try and get a new one in the next couple of days....

But, the question is, since the 4th speed is just straight 12 volts, what typically makes it not work. When I turn the fan the the 4th setting, I get the noise of the recirculation flap (I think that's what that is), changing positions, but the fan doesn't come on.

I haven't had a squeaky fan either (when it was working), so I don't think that is the problem... Anywhere else to look?

Thanks

Start by checking fuse number 5. If the fuse is good chances are the relay is bad.The relay is on a small shelfnext to the blower resistor. There are actually 2 relays on the shelf. One is the A/C compressor relay and the other is the max fan relay. You can see the wires at the base of the relay and the max fan relay has the wire colors Green, Red, White, Green/Red, and Black.

ok thanks... I've checked the fuse and it's good. I'll take a look at the relay...

update:
Replaced the resistor (good bye $90), that fixed speeds 1-3.

Replaced the relay - good buy $10 and hello fourth fan speed.

The relay to look at is the one on the left. You just need to remove the interior of the glove box to get to it. The interesting thing is that the resistor has two actuators, so the relay was clicking when I turned the fan switch to the fourth setting. But I got a replacement from Advance Auto parts and it fixed the problem.
