the sunroof on the car wont go past half way, it looks like it is off track. when it goes forward the right side lags behind. is there any way to adjust it?

 

The cable might have jumped teeth. The only way to adjust that is to remove the motor.

See attached; make sure the scissors mechanism is not off track, as well as the cleanliness of the track (some plastic debris may be found).

If it turns out the motor as per Tech's advice, I believe I pointed it out with green arrow.

Tech, please correct me if I pointed at the wrong component.

Hey guys, I am new to this forum and new to owning a Volvo. I recently purchased a 97 850 T5 wagon off Ebay. The car has 185,000 miles on it and it runs well. I have read some of the replys to problems similar to what I have with the sunroof, it will tilt, but will not go back. It pulls down and tries but stop before it starts to open. Could the motor just be weak? Is there a way to open it manually and be able to clean and lube the track? I just don't want to take down the headliner, it's not that important.

 

i didnt want to take off the headliner either but I had no choice...but its not really that hard at all...i was able to close my most of the way by pushing it closed and thats when I realized that on the backside of the right side of the sunroof theres like a metal bar that attaches to the sunroof...well one side is attached to the glass and the right side isnt so i think thats what keeping miine from working......
